TextbookOwl aims to bring fair pricing back to the textbook industry.
The research
A 2017 study by Wakefield Research found that 85% of students delayed or avoided purchasing course materials. 91% of these students did so due to cost. In 2018, 98% of the college students that we surveyed wished they had a cheaper alternative.

This data echoes the complaints that we hear constantly from our friends and peers, textbooks are too expensive.
The problem
At best, money spent on textbook cuts into personal budgets. At worst, students avoid purchasing textbooks altogether, disabling them from fully participating in their courses and hindering their potential.
The solution
TextbookOwl offers an alternative. This platform allows students to buy, sell, and rent textbooks from each other, promoting a community of fairness and mutual benefit.

We also encourage transparency: sellers must post four images of both the outside and inside of the textbook, showing the wear and tear of the item.

Furthermore, buyers and sellers must sign up with their .edu email and face other methods of verification, ensuring a safe climate for exchange.
